Q: How are the SecureW2 EAP Clients licensed for Education?
A: SecureW2 licenses only one version of the EAP Client for Windows platforms called Enterprise Client. Current version of the client is 3.X and it is offered for sale with maintenance and support. All other SecureW2 EAP clients including all 2.X versions which weren't supported and MS certified are end-of-life and end-of-sale from late-2009.
Q: What happened to SecureW2 Personal Client 2.X?
A: Development on SecureW2’s Personal Client 2.X version ceased in mid-2009 but was continued to be licensed for distribution by institutions as an unsupported client. SecureW2 no longer offers for public download or licenses for institutional use any un-supported client versions for legal and business reasons. SecureW2 Personal Client 2.X is end-of-life.
Q: Is it legal for me to distribute SecureW2 2.0.X Clients and Mobile/CE 2.0.X Clients without a license?
A: It is illegal to distribute any 2.0.X versions without a license, this is stipulated in Section 3.1 in the license terms & conditions. Only 1.X versions and legacy TTLS 3.3.X versions are legal to distribute without license.
Q: What type of downloads do you support now on your website?
A: SecureW2 offers 30-day evaluation downloads of all of all three of our supported software products. SecureW2 Enterprise Client, SecureW2 Enterprise Mobile Client and SecureW2 Enterprise Server. SecureW2 Enterprise Mobile Client can also be purchased for individual use online from SecureW2.com. All other products are available by contacting us via our Sales Inquiry page.
Q: Can my IT department continue using the old clients?
A: You can continue to use 1.X versions of the client. All SecureW2 2.X Client versions released under a newer license is legally only distributable via an annual distribution license which are stipulated in section 3.1 of the Term and Conditions. If your institution acquired a SecureW2 Personal Client Distribution Edition 2.X annual license which expires in 2010 contact SecureW2 regarding our special program on renewing your license to the supported and current Enterprise Client License.
Q: As an education customer, is it worthwhile to have access to the Enterprise Client? Who has purchased it?
A: It is entirely up to your institution. Many top global universities including have licensed SecueW2 Enterprise Client. These institutions depend on the availability and superior features of the SecureW2 Enterprise client which offer numerous ease of deployment, security and above all enhanced user-experience features at very reasonable cost compared to clients from Cisco and Juniper.
Q: I’m aware of “Enterprise for Education” program which offers education discounted pricing on Enterprise Client, does this apply to Enterprise Server as well?
A: Yes, Enterprise Server is offered at a discounted price for Education customers as well.
